This is a guide to help you focus on rebalancing your life and your body. It is not a religious practice. It is a simple way to keep your attention on a different part of that balance each day. A life season is the lean of those years, not a rank you have to earn.
About seven years to a season
This garden teaches the life in seven stretches: about the first 7 years at the root, about 7 to 14 at the sacral, about 14 to 21 at the solar plexus, about 21 to 28 at the heart, about 28 to 35 at the throat, about 35 to 42 at the third eye, and about 42 to 49 at the crown, with the earlier seasons still awake afterward.
People keep working every petal for the whole of life. In the first years the body leans toward survival and belonging, because food, shelter, and a safe adult are the world. Later the lean moves toward feeling, then choice, then care, then voice, then meaning, then a wider quiet. When a home is lost at forty, root work returns. The season is a lean, not a lock.
Classical yoga texts do not hand out these Western ages. The seven-year rhythm is a modern teaching map, close to the way some teachers describe a life renewing. Anodea Judith’s well-known developmental chart is a different map, and it lives in our table under “Developmental stage.”
The early-childhood row is a different map
That row is about when each theme first wakes up, and the bands overlap. Root is listed from the womb through about the first year. Sacral runs from about 6 months to 2 years. Solar plexus is about 18 to 42 months. Heart is about 3.5 to 7 years. Throat is about 7 to 12. Third eye is named with adolescence. Crown is listed through the whole of life.
Those titles are not the life seasons. “Womb to 12 months” is the first waking of root. “About the first 7 years” is the season when root is the main lean. Both can be true.
Birth time
A birth time does not pick your season. The season follows the years you are in now. If root work is what the day needs, do that work, even in a heart season.
Root · Earth · Steadiness
About the first 7 years
The life leans toward safety, the body, food, shelter, and belonging.
A child in these years relies on caregivers for the basics and for the feeling that the ground holds. Feet, meals, routines, and a safe room are the practice. The other petals are already alive. Root is simply the one the body is working the most.

Sacral · Water · Ease
About 7 to 14
The life leans toward feeling, play, friendship, and learning what you enjoy.
The world becomes sensory and social. Color, movement, water, and friends matter. Safety does not disappear. It sits underneath while feeling becomes the season’s work.

Solar Plexus · Fire · Confidence
About 14 to 21
The life leans toward will, identity, and the right to choose.
The question shifts from “keep me safe” toward “I can decide.” Strength, direction, and a task that is yours belong here. The earlier needs are still in the body when life gets hard.

Heart · Air · Warmth
About 21 to 28
The life leans toward bond and care wider than the childhood home.
Friendship deepens into care you can give and receive, including care for yourself. Warmth, grief, and staying open are the work. This is not a command to be cheerful.

Throat · Ether (Space) · Clarity
About 28 to 35
The life leans toward voice, truth, and work you can stand behind.
The sentence you have been holding wants air. Speaking, writing, and listening are the practice. The point is an honest line, said with care.

Third Eye · Light · Insight
About 35 to 42
The life leans toward meaning, pattern, and what you actually notice.
You look again at the story you have been living. Insight sits beside hunger, feeling, will, care, and voice. It does not erase them.

About 42 to 49, and after
The life leans toward a wider quiet, while the earlier seasons stay available.
Silence, sky, and a longer view. After this stretch the seasons are lived again with more skill. Nothing is finished and put away.
